Hi there,
My name is Peter and I spent 5 years or so as a freelance
photogropher in the 1980's/90's. Although I no longer earn my main
income from photography it is still a passionate hobby of mine.
Obviously, when I was working as a freelance, digital photography
wasn't an option and 35mm film was pretty much standard (with larger
formats for detailed work). My main kit was a couple of Canon
A-1 bodies (1 loaded with colour print film and the other with
colour transparency film), 28mm wide angle lens, 35mm-70mm
standard zoom and a 135mm-300mm telephoto zoom. This,
along with a "power winder" so I could shoot continuous frames and a
couple of flash guns for low-light situations, some sync cables,
reflectors, a tripod, filters, etc. made for quite a heavy load!
Today's photographer has it a lot easier.
With a decent digital camera and computer image manipulation
software you only really need 1 camera to do everything that I did
with 2 cases of often expensive and fragile gear.
I currently use a Canon
EOS Rebel T3i DSLR as my main camera with a
couple of lenses (mainly the Canon
EF-S 55-250mm Telephoto Zoom) and a flash gun; everything
fits comfortably into a small camera bag.
