This is a perfect choice for someone who wants the quality of a digital camera without taking the time to learn all of the intricacies of manual photography. Beginners will fall in love with the ease of just pointing, clicking and previewing the shot on the 2.7 inch LED screen.

You can even adjust the brightness of the LED screen up and down depending upon our viewing situation. More advanced users will also enjoy the Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS as a take-along for times when they are too busy to manually compose each photo.

Amazingly Easy to Use

Designed with convenience in mind, the Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS is incredibly easy to use and would be a perfect way to introduce children to photography. The camera’s Smart Auto feature does the work, letting them concentrate on picking their subjects or setting up a group shot.

Lighting, shutter speed, aperture setting, all of these can be intimidating to the everyday user, but not with this great little compact. The computer does the thinking for you. Programmed with 18 different shooting settings, the camera will analyze your shot and pick the best setting for the perfect final result.

Incredible Picture Clarity

You won’t have to sacrifice quality pictures with the Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS. It comes complete with many of the features more advanced models carry. For example, the Optical Image Stabilizer corrects blurring that could occur when using the wide angle or zoom lenses. Low light settings allow you to take pictures on cloudy days or indoors with less than perfect lighting.

If you are taking pictures at night, the Smart Auto will select the Night Snapshot mode which uses the auto flash and creates brighter backgrounds so your subjects will stand out. Do you want to scuba dive? Place the Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS inside a Canon waterproof case, switch to underwater mode, and you can bring home photos of the colorful sea life.

Taking pictures on the beach or in the snow can be a challenge because the bright glare of the sun can darken faces. This problem is solved with the Snow and Beach Modes. And if you want to take advantage of most of the auto features yet maintain some artistic control you can always switch to P mode.

The Perfect Portrait

Are you tired of having a great picture ruined by red eye? This irritating problem is corrected with Canon’s highly developed red-eye reduction and correction. The camera also includes white balancing, which keeps your subject from blending into the background. In Auto format, the camera will balance the light in the face. It doesn’t matter if you are inside or out; if it is cloudy or sunny, or even if you are under fluorescent lighting. The built in features of the Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS are designed to deliver quality every time.

What People are Saying about the PowerShot SD1300 IS

The nice thing about the Canon ELPH series is they easily fit into your pocket, are well built/designed, don't cost a lot, come with a boatload of features, and take great pictures. The SD1300, the latest in the ELPH line continues in that tradition, ...

Most buyers agree that the Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS is a fun, affordable, sturdy little camera designed to take the worry out of digital photography. Even though it is modestly priced, the camera produces the great quality Canon is known for. This is a point and shoot camera only, and does not include video.

Some people have commented about the short life of the enclosed battery, but others recommend buying a longer-life model or simply keeping a second battery. That way, you can always have one in the camera and one charging up. The fact that you can adjust the brightness of the LED screen is a plus because it allows you to preview your photos just as clearly in the bright sun as you can in a dark room.

Amazing camera! I bought it a few months ago and I've really liked it. I was also really impressed since I'm not very good with cameras, so if you are a beginner or just want a camera that takes really good pictures without needing much skill, then I'd recommend this one.
